Service Description

This course is your first step towards operating a recreational or commercial vessel in Juneau, Alaska. 2-hours in length, participants will be informed on: -State and Federal laws applicable to recreational boaters -Legally required emergency equipment -Local boating retailers, repair, and resources -Local waterway orientation (restricted areas, hazardous areas, areas of interest, etc) -Enforcement and Response Agencies of Juneau, Alaska -Local weather and climate patterns -City and Borough of Juneau Harbor use and etiquette -Boating 'Rules of the Road' and commonly used Aids to Navigation (ATON) -PFD use and familiarization This course is designed to be informational to boaters of any skill level. If you are new to boating, it offers a great framework prior to operational coaching. If you are an experienced boater, we guarantee that you will walk away with an update to the never-ending changes that impact maritime boating practice. Most importantly, participants will ensure that they enjoy our region's waterways without violating Federal or State regulations, and sponsor ethical boating practices for Juneau's waterways. This class is FREE for participants registered in Private Coaching, SABER Boat Operator (1, 2, or 3 Day) Course, and Master MMC. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made prior to 24-hours of SABER class start times. Missed classes;students arriving later than 15-minutes of scheduled start-time; or cancellations within 24-hours of scheduled classes will incur a $25 cancellation fee.
