This course is designed for new arrivals to Juneau, eager to learn and explore!
Service Description
This is a five (5) hour classroom and field crash course into Juneau's: Local attractions Notable landmarks Services (harbors, medical, shopping, etc) Geographic overview Natural and cultural history Municipal agencies and civil involvement Wildlife viewing and harvesting areas This course includes a classroom powerpoint orientation (2-hours), followed by a bus tour of Juneau and surrounding waterways. The guided bus tour brings you from one end of the Juneau road system ("Out the Road") to the far end (North Douglas Highway). Often, wildife is viewed from the roadway and at the seven scenic viewing areas that our bus will stop while the guide offers interpretation of landmarks. Participants will be required to walk short distances and expect inclement weather. Bus stops include: Mendenhall Lake (0.25 mile walk) Auke Lake/ University of Alaska Mendenhall Wetlands Sandy Beach (1.6 miles walk) False Outer Point Lena Beach Recreation Area (0.7 mile walk) Eagle Beach Recreation Area Echo Cove (or) Point Bridget State Park

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made prior to 24-hours of SABER class start times. Missed classes;students arriving later than 15-minutes of scheduled start-time; or cancellations within 24-hours of scheduled classes will incur a $25 cancellation fee.
